My boyfriend really likes to go to the spa, and he was wondering.... do you do mudpacks and facials? Exfoliants? Any special tips for keeping our complexions at their best? - One of your biggest fans

Well, you came to the right monster. I get compliments on my skin all the time, and it is all due to where I live - in the mud. Mud is great for your skin because of its unique ability to cleanse, detoxify, and moisturize all at once. This is not the mud you get in your yard after too much rain. The kind of mud that is good for you skin is more like a soft gooey clay. I don't go to a fancy spa to get my mud treatments though — I just smear the local mud of the Puget Sound all over my body. (You don't have to go to a spa either; see my mask recipe to the right!) It's getting harder and harder to find uncontaminated mud to do this with,  which is partly why I left my home to help with MudUp.

Using mud for your complexion is great for humans of all ages. Skin is your largest organ and has a great system for keeping itself clean, however now there are many outside contaminants that the skin needs help to clear out. Covering your body in mud or taking a mud bath is one of the most effective methods to help clean out those toxic substances because of how it stimulates the lymphatic system. It's best to put mud on your skin when you are very warm (like after or during a bath) because pores are open, allowing the mud to absorb more toxins. Once the mud dries, you can rinse it off and find a new glowing layer of skin underneath!

Uncontaminated mud is best, so it is VERY important to keep our mud clean, which can only be done by being enviromentally conscious and cleaning the water surrounding the mud. The Earth's largest organ is the ocean, and when in balance is able to take care of itself.  But, just like our skin, being subjected to outside toxins throws it out of this natural balance and it needs help. That is the case with our Sound — it really needs our help to detoxify it! So do something good for the ocean and for your skin all at once, look under the max mud activities and MudUp!
