Richard Louv's autograph!

I’m glad you asked, Baffled. Most of my time is spent tirelessly traveling throughout the Puget Sound region, meeting people and having a great time at all sorts of MudUp events. But sometimes even a Mud Monster spends a little bit of time indoors. Like last week, I was so excited because one of my favorite authors, Richard Louv, was talking at Town Hall. I had planned to hang out with some cool cohos that night, but there was no way I was going to miss Richard Louv's talk. This is one man who really gets it.  Kids are just not spending enough time outside these days, and Louv is leading the way to helping people understand that playing outside as a child is crucial for human development. My favorite part of Louv's talk was when he called for "destruction zones" where kids can get muddy and messy without fear. My kind of guy! He also talked a lot about how everybody's lives are so scheduled these days, but we need to make the time to get outside, no matter what. I wanted to raise my hand and tell everyone in the audience to check out the MudUp calendar of events, but I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I try to blend in with crowds the best I can. After the talk, I got to meet Louv, and he even signed a copy of his book, Last Child in the Woods, for me. What a great night that was!
