Sunny Sunday Brings out the People at Alki (6/3/07)

The Shoreline Adventure day was a smashing success with hundreds of participants attending throughout the day. They learned about toxics in Puget Sound at Seacrest Park, shoreline ecology and Best Beach Behavior at Duwamish Head, learned about Best Beach Behavior at Constellation Park, and even participated in a Kids For Puget Sound Art Contest at the Alki Bathhouse. We couldn't have asked for a nicer day, and the north shore was crowded!

We couldn't have asked for a nicer day, and the  north shore was crowded!

The Watershed Map was a nice draw for people; folks who might not otherwise have approached our table came over to  show out-of-town guests where they were in relation to  other locations and to get their bearings.

Puget Sound  restoration was fresh in peoples' minds from recent media  coverage, and I got a lot of questions about what people can do to help. Fortunately, I was able to tell them about the Mudup campaign and referred them to the mudup.org website.

We were joined by Shawn Smith of the Moss Bay Dive Club, Andrea Mercato from the Log House Museum (which was also  listed as a stop along the way for folks who wanted to  visit all the stations), Seattle Aquarium Beach  Naturalists, and at the last minute by Tribes United in  Journey, who even arranged for the Great Blue Heron Canoe  to beach at the Alki Bathhouse during the day! That was a great treat.
