“Fred said this was the 10th annual singing to the whales; I think it was the 8th but what difference does that make when you get to sit looking out at Haro Strait at sunset and with over a hundred fellow listeners get to hear the harmonies of the City Cantabile Choir serenading the Southern resident orcas. We are reminded that we are in the whales’ home and they are on their schedules, not ours. So, this year they were up around Turn Point and weren’t within hearing range of our voices rising to the harmonies of “Amazing Grace.” They knew we were there. We sang for their safety, we sang for their healthy, we sang in celebration.”
